Actor Rhea Chakraborty is in the odds of being arrested after the National Control Bureau (NCB) reportedly probed her for over 6 hours in Mumbai, sources told Zee News.
In a new turn of event in the Sushant Singh Rajput case, the NCB has unraveled a drug abuse link over the actor’s untimely demise.
Whatsapp texts tipped Rhea’s brother Showick Chakraborty and Sushant’s house manager Samuel Miranda on a possible drug link, and the duo was arrested on Friday.
Now, two days after the duo were arrested, Rhea was summoned by the narcotic agency and was probed for 6 hours.
“We have recorded RheaChakraborthy’s statement. But, because of her late arrival today, the investigation could not be completed. So, she has been summoned tomorrow as well,” NCB Zonal Director, Sameer Wankhede told news agency ANI, in Mumbai.
What appears a tad-bit suspicious is Rhea’s lawyer’s statement that came shortly after the Sushant’s former girlfriend stepped out from the 6-hours long NCB probe.
Rhea’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde said, his client is ready to get an arrest, and that the probe on her is a witch hunt. The lawyer stated Rhea is innocent and it is evident in her act of not approaching for anticipatory bail on any of the cases foisted on her, Zee News reported.
If loving Sushant was Rhea’s fault, said lawyer Maneshinde, then she is ready for an arrest.
Rhea Chakraborty’s father Lt. Col. Indrajit Chakraborty (Retd) on Saturday issued a statement saying her daughter is next-in-line for the arrest.
“Congratulations India, you have arrested my son, I’m sure next on the line is my daughter and I don’t know who is next thereafter. You have effectively demolished a middle-class family. But of course, for the sake of justice, everything is justified. Jai Hind,” Mr. Chakraborty said.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging at his Bandra apartment by Mumbai police and went on to become one of the most controversial cases on any Bollywood actor.
