Half of US adults fully vaccinated against Covid: W.House

Washington, United States: The White House announced Tuesday that half of all adults in the United States had received full Covid-19 immunizations, marking yet another major victory in the fight against the pandemic.

"Now 50% of all American adults are fully vaccinated," tweeted Cyrus Shahpar, Covid-19 data director for the White House.

That means half of the adult population has had two doses of the Moderna or Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccination.

Although more than half a million Americans have died as a result of the coronavirus, the United States is currently a world leader in vaccine distribution.

The United States has reached about half of its 332 million inhabitants with at least one dosage, but its immunization effort has slowed due to skepticism.

By July 4, President Joe Biden wants 70 percent of adults to have had at least one dose of the vaccine. The current percentage is around 62 percent.
