Democratic presidential nominee and former Vice President of the US, Joe Biden has assured every American, irrespective of their insurance status, will get COVID-19 vaccine for free if elected.
He said on Wednesday, making an approved and safe COVID-19 vaccine freely available to all Americans will be a part of his national strategy to set America back on track post-COVID, Agence France Presse reported.
“Once we have a safe and effective vaccine, it has to be free to everyone — whether or not you’re insured,” Biden said in a speech about his response plan just 11 days before the US presidential election.
Biden scathed Trump for quitting on America and giving up fighting on the virus, adding that if elected, he’ll help the struggling Americans and put an end to the pandemic.
The Democrat presidential nominee has always spoken for the scientific protocols and has urged the masses to listen to the scientists, which is unlike President Trump, who has championed a myriad of theories other than scientific.
“Wearing a mask is not a political statement, it’s a scientific imperative; it’s a patriotic pride, so we can pull our country out of this God-awful spiral we’re in,” Biden said.
It must be noted, Trump has also stressed for a free vaccine once approved. He said will be ready in the coming weeks and ‘should be free,’ AFP reports.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has earlier said, Americans will get the vaccine free of cost since the jabs will be bought through the American taxpayer’s dollars in funding approved by Congress.
Both Trump and Biden debated for the final time ahead of the November 3 elections. Biden is so far faring well in the polls as compared to Trump.
Both the presidential nominees discussed or debated matter including the pandemic and economy, more moderately this time, thanks to the threat of muting the microphones.
Trump appeared to downplay the present situation of the pandemic in the US, which is the worst of any other nation in the world.
“Covid-19 dwarfs anything that we’ve faced in recent history, and it isn’t showing any signs of slowing down,” Biden said in a speech in Wilmington.
Biden attacked Trump for ‘not having a plan’ and said that the present President has “given up. He’s quit on you. He’s quit on your family. He’s quit on America.”
The US has the world’s highest number of COVID-19 in the world, at 8.4 million confirmed cases and over 200,000 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University data.
