“I’ve never felt so unsafe in my life;” Footage shows airline neglecting social distancing norms


A passenger traveling from Fresno to Dallas in an American Airlines flight “never felt so unsafe” in her life, after she found the airline notwithstanding the CDC rule that highlights at least 6ft social distancing.

Sharing the video of the crowded flight AA1154, Twitter user Tammy Gonzalez wrote: “apparently airlines are exempt from CDC guidelines for social distancing.”

“All rows with the exception of maybe 4 rows were completely full of passengers. I’ve never felt so unsafe in my life.”

In the video the passenger can be seen uttering “(…) it is so overcrowded.”  As she pans the video inside the filled cabin, people can be seen wearing masks. One man behind the can be seen not wearing a mask at all.

CDC Social Distancing Guidelines

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), one must “stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arms’ length) from other people” to practice effective social distancing, while avoiding mass gathering is advised alongside. People are urged not to gather at any place.

Coronavirus spreads from the bodily fluids, especially respiratory droplets that travel from person to person while sneezing and coughing.

The droplets once released, lands on the face, nose, mou th of the people, which makes a potential entry point for the virus.

The chances of contamination increase with a prolonged period of close contact.

Flyers are supposed to arrive at the airport two hours prior to take-off, wearing masks. They’ll also have to download the State-backed health flagging app called ‘Arogya Setu’ and only if the app marks green after inputting information, one will be allowed to board the flights, according to reports.
