India COVID-19: Single-day recovery numbers surpassed fresh cases

On Saturday, more number of people recuperated from the novel infection than the number of fresh cases recorded on the same day, federal health ministry data showed.

Updated data on Saturday showed 95,880 people recuperated from the novel coronavirus, while 93,337 new infections were recorded during the period, meaning, more people went back home than admitted to the hospitals.

The slight improvement in the condition of the pandemic comes amid India’s skyrocketing number of new infections from the new virus.

On Sunday, 92,605 new infections in the last 24 hours were added to the nation’s caseload, taking the national total to 5.4 million, the second nations to surpass the 5 million mark after the US.

All total 42,08,431 people defeated the virus, pushing the recovery rate to 79.28 percent, one of the best in the world. As per the updated date, there are 10,13,964 active cases of COVID-19 in the country, which captures 19.10% of the total caseload.

The health ministry also states, more than 70% of all the fatal COVID-19 cases in the country were from the effect of co-morbidities.

Associate ailments like high blood pressure, diabetes, terminal diseases, other respiratory ailments, among others largely contribute to chances of several COVID-19 infections and thereby chances of fatality.
