Kolkata, India: Novel coronavirus cases in India breached a new somber milestone, Tuesday, after roughly 185k new cases were recorded from across the nation, as a new wave of the pandemic hits every corner of the world.
For the sixth day in a row, India broke its own record of highest daily infections with roughly 1.85 lakh new cases on Tuesday — the highest single-day increase yet.
Meanwhile, over 1,000 more patients died in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths to 1,72,135, according to data from the health ministry.
The Health Ministry had registered 1,36,89,453 COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday morning, including 12,64,698 active cases, and 1,22,53,697 recoveries.
India recorded 1,38,71,321 cases and 1,72,135 deaths as of Tuesday night, according to data collected from state/UT statistics. About 12.3 million people have been rehabilitated.
Until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, 11,10,33,925 vaccine doses were administered in India, with a total of 25,00,883 doses administered on the day.
In Maharashtra, 60,212 more people tested positive, while Karnataka announced 8,778 new cases.
Madhya Pradesh announced 8,998 new cases, bringing the total number of cases to 3,53,632, including 4,261 deaths and 3,05,832 recoveries.
In Delhi, there were 13,468 new cases, while in Uttar Pradesh, there were 18,021 new infections.
Punjab announced 3,003 new incidents, bringing the total for the state to 2,79,203. In the state, 7,609 patients have died, while 2,43,410 have recovered.
On Tuesday, Gujarat added 6,690 new cases, bringing the total to 3,60,206, including 4,922 deaths and 3,20,729 recoveries.
