China played Punjabi songs in loudspeakers for Indian army in the tense border region

-

In what is being seen as an ambiguous warfare tactic, the People’s Liberation Army of China has reportedly blared Punjabi songs through loudspeakers for the Indian Army in the contested Finger 4 of the LAC.

According to media reports, Punjabi numbers were being blared through loudspeakers at the Finger-4 region where in recent weeks the Indian Army had been keeping a constant eye over growing tensions.

Indian troops had been keeping round-the-clock surveillance post in the Finger-4 region, news agency ANI reported, citing sources.

According to the unnamed source, the possible reason behind this tactic could to an effort by the PLA to relieve border tensions or distract the Indian troops.

It must be noted, in the past 20 days, at least three firing incident has taken place between the Chinese and Indian troops over territorial disputes that began with the deadly Galwan valley incident.

On September 8, over 100 rounds were fired between the troops in the vicinity of the Finger 4 region where the loudspeakers were played recently. Indian army sources said the fires were a result of the Chinese side ‘behaving aggressively.’

At that time, India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar was in Moscow to hold diplomatic talks with the Chinese counterpart, but with no significant results till now.

“The first incident happened when the Indian Army preempted the Chinese attempt to occupy heights near Southern Bank of Pangong lake between August 29-31 while the second incident occurred near Mukhpari height on September 7,” news agency ANI quoted the Indian Army sources as saying.

In June, the two nuclear-armed nations fought a bloody war without arms in the de-facto border region of Galwan valley in Kashmir, where at least 20 soldiers were killed by the Chinese part, with near-similar numbers of the PLA.
