“All that has been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested!” Bachchan wrote in a tweet. According to WHO, people above the age of 60, or with other medical conditions are typically at higher risk of encountering the severity of the disease.

Sources say Amitabh Bachchan’s son Abhishek Bachchan too has contracted the virus, Nanavati Hospital, where Sr. Bachchan is admitted, has confirmed according to media reports.

Nanavati Hospital doctors speaking to India Today TV told the megastar complained of breathlessness over the last few days, and his results came positive on Saturday. However, Amitabh Bachchan has not yet been put to a ventilator as of now.

Potential risks?

When India Today asked the doctors about any potential health risks Mr. Sr. Bachchan could face, the doctors said concerns primarily comes from two factors- the actor’s age and other ailments. Amitabh Bachchan has been reportedly living with a complicated liver issue since 1982 when his liver was damaged up to 77% in a near-fatal accident.

The actor reportedly leads a healthy lifestyle, with proper diet and regular exercise. Doctors told India Today that they are confident the star should be well soon since he is being looked after very well. Recent reports suggest veteran actor Rekha’s bungalow has also been sealed, as one of her guards have tested positive for the virus.

West Bengal Chief Minister wished the megastar a speedy recovery. Ms. Banerjee tweeted: “Extremely saddened to hear the news of Shri #AmitabhBachchan Ji testing COVID Positive. Praying for his strength & speedy recovery. @SrBachchan please get well soon!”

Rumors were doing rounds on the internet that both the Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan was released from the hospital. However, Abhishek Bachchan cleared the douts with a tweet saying both of them will be staying in hospital unless doctor decides otherwise. The father-son duo has been showing mild symptoms of the virus.

“Aishwarya and Aaradhya have also tested COVID-19 positive,” Abhishek Bachchan wrote on Twitter. “They will be self quarantining at home. The rest of the family including my Mother have tested negative. Thank you all for your wishes and prayers,” he added.
