Sydney, Australia: According to local media, an Australian hoarder killed a thief and kept the body for 15 years, masking the odor with more than 70 air fresheners.
According to national broadcaster ABC, Sydney man Bruce Roberts shot burglar Shane Snellman during an attempted home robbery in 2002 and kept the body in his house.
Neighbors contacted emergency authorities when Roberts died of natural causes in 2017. His body was discovered slumped over a heater.
Snellman’s bones, however, were not discovered until cleaners were hired to cleanse the estate nearly a year later, amid mountains of trash in the house.
According to the coroner’s court, the body was surrounded by more than 70 bottles of air freshener designed to hide the odor.
Roberts was described as an extreme hoarder who rarely left his house, which reportedly contained more than a dozen firearms.
