Images posted on social media show huge swarms of locusts buzzing the horizon of Gurugram, Haryana’s urban district bordering New Delhi.
The swarm is reportedly nearly 3 km long and according to the expert prediction, it will likely hit New Delhi by Saturday or Sunday, according to reports. The attack comes within a day after the Gurugram administration has warned the residents to keep windows and doors shut.

The Gurugram administration is taking measures like buzzing sounds and sirens so that the insects don’t settle on the crops and completely destroy them while spraying chemicals in vehicle-mount spray pumps in rural areas.
Gurugram Deputy Commissioner (DC) Amit Khatra told Outlook Magazine that the insects are flying stedily from west to east due to the winds and will most likely enter delhi.
Locust attacks have ravaged India’s most agricultural states like Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab among a few other states. Gurugram residents have been urged to clang utensils to drive the pests away that have a voracious appetite for greens.
