In the past 72-years, nothing could have prevented the annual Gala of the Metropolitan Museum, until 2020 novel coronavirus hailed.
Like many other important events. Met Gala too got postponed due to coronavirus fears, as the infection continues to surge in the US.
Vogue US editor-in-chief Anna Wintour confirmed that the star-studded event is not going to take place as scheduled on May 4th.
However, thanks to technology, the essence is not lost. Vogue Magazine on Monday wrote:
“Today is the first Monday in May, which is when the annual #MetGala usually takes place,” Vogue writes on an Instagram post featuring the best looks.
“This year’s affair, which would have been themed #MetAboutTime, may have been placed on hiatus, but the absence of fashion’s biggest event of the year didn’t stop fans from channeling its fabulous spirit.
“The #MetGalaChallenge, started by Vogue and @theebillyporter, invited @Instagram users to revive some of their favorite red carpet looks of the past at home—and the results certainly did not disappoint. Here, we’ve rounded up just a few of our favorites;”
Here’re the ones which stole Met, Porter and Vogue’s heart:
As soon as the challenge 2020 took off on Monday, the internet was flooded with individuals coming around with their unique ways to recreate their favorite celebrity’s looks.

This RiRi’s look from 2015’s Met Gala is an icon. What Rihanna wore was a handmade Chinese contour designed by Beijing and Paris-based design house Gou Pei. And what this user did was commendable.

We know it’s Rihana’s second rendition in the list, but hey, we couldn’t not post this one. This 2017 Rihana’s look was designed by Commedesgarcons for the theme “Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between.” This Instagram user not only won her way to get featured in Vogue, but it also turns out she always dreamt of becoming the EIC of Vogue.
