IN PICS: Urvashi Rautela 1st Asian-Indian to grace Iraqi Magazine cover

Siliguri, India: Bollywood diva and former Miss Universe (2015) Urvashi Rautela became the first Asian-Indian to grace the cover of a sought-after Iraqi magazine called the Baghdad Street Style, for its April special feature. 

The Bollywood beauty just recently made headlines for her wonderful style statement in a ravishing red attire she wrote at the Filmfare Awards 2021 red carpet, and now becomes the first Asian-Indian actress to feature on the cover of a leading Iraqi Magazine.

Urvashi, whose name embodies the most beautiful of all the celestial medians at Hindu deity Indra's court according to legends, is synonymous with beauty pageants, having won several of the coveted ones, including winning the Miss Universe title in 2015. 

The 'Hate Story 4' star is known for her bold fashion choices.     

Taking to her Instagram account Urvashi expressed her happiness writing: “Honoured to be the First Asian/Indian Artist to be on the cover of Iraq’s No.1 Magazine @baghdadstylestreet. Thank You Iraq 🇮🇶 Baghdad for always showcasing massive love towards me. I’m truly elated big love to all my fans & loved ones.”

The gorgeous actress further explained about Iraqi fashion and wrote: “The history of Iraqi fashion is as diverse as the different cultures and influences which have passed through the country since its inception as an independent state.”

Urvashi looks beautiful and elegant on the magazine’s cover. She wore an Abaya- Iraqi traditional attire and held the leash of a horse. The traditional Iraqi headpiece that she wore on the image is indeed really impressive.

Iraqi Spirit

According to reports, Urvashi was in Dubai shooting for the Baghdad Street Style magazine.

According to the feature published on Baghdad Street Style's website, Urvashi's 'Iraqi spirit' style was inspired by Iraqi fashion designer Raghda Ismail, owner of Dar Al Yusr.

Editor-in-chief of Baghdad Street Style, Shaima Khaled said working with Rautela for the special cover feature was 'special.' 

“The work was special with Urvashi in her first appearance on the cover of an Iraqi magazine and at the level of the Arab Gulf. Thanks to her ruins, which were remarkably distinguished in merging the spirit of the Iraqi dress with the originality of the Arab dress, it reflected on her photo session, as fashion and creativity are the elixirs of luxury and two elements that add a measure of joy and happiness in our difficult times," Khaled was quoted as saying.

In a conversation with Baghdad Style Street, Urvashi said the Arab region is rich in its artistic legacy. "Arab cinema has recently achieved unparalleled successes, most notably the film Capernaum, which attracted me very much.”

Speaking about her experience in working with Street Style and wearing the Arabian attire, Rautela said: “I feel that Arab costumes pave the way to highlight the true inner beauty. It preserves the beauty of women and also highlights its beauty in a striking way. I discovered the “burqa” culture, which many consider traditional costumes, but it was new to me. Even when I wore it, my senses were completely different, but I was very enjoying all these details," Rautela told Baghdad Street Style.

Rautella also spoke about what she feels is the similarities between Arabian and Indian civilizations. 

"On the level of family rapprochement, I find there are many details in which the Arab family meets the same concept of the family in India. The opposite of what we see in the West. Even the simple details of our life in terms of food and the like, they are both close," she said in her exclusive interview with the magazine.

The beautiful actress is known for her projects like the movie Sanam Re, recent Virgin Bhanupriya, and her dance number in Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil, ‘Saara Zamaana’.

The diva will also soon star in an international music collaboration ‘Versace’ with Egyptian superstar Mohamed Ramadan, and ‘Mar Jayenge’ a track by Guru Randhawa.
