Rapper Kanye West just declared his candidacy for the US Presidential run in 2020. An unlikely and a dramatic twist for a largely vocal supporter of Donald Trump.

21-times Grammy Awards winner West’s announcement came while America was celebrating the 4th of July – America’s Independence Day. His tweet has legitly gone viral with whopping 359.8k retweets at the time of writing this post, and 687.5k likes, both spiking every minute.

The announcement was made with a patriotic message that reads: “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future,” followed by the bombastic announcement –

“I am running for president of the United States.”

Media reports noted, West’s move to be unlikely, given the rapper’s usual vocal support for Trump and fellow presidential hopeful Joe Bidden.

His celebrity wife replied to hubby’s tweet with an American flag. It is not clear whether the 43-years old has formally applied for official paperwork to appear for state election ballots.

Many people pointed out the ‘Good Morning’ singer might be late for the elections. However, the deadlines are not yet over for many States, it must be noted.

“With just four months to go before polling day on 3 November, it was not clear whether West’s tweet would have been more fitting on April Fools’ day than American Independence Day,” David Smith of the Guardian wrote.

West’s announcement immediately took the internet on the storm. The announcement found endorsement at billionaire Elon Musk’s, who replied to Kanye’s tweet by saying “You have my full support!”

Meanwhile on Twitter, hashtag Kim Kardashian West is trending number one in Entertainment, after all West’s announcement has an indirect but unmissable probability of his wife as America’s First Lady. Just like you, Twitter could not but delve into it.

‘Kim Kardashian will be the First lady if Kanye West becomes the president…’ is the catchphrase of most of the tweets filed under trending #Kim Kardashian, followed by individual-reactions. Take a look below:
