India Braces To Resume Domestic Travel Gradually In Few Days - We The World Magazine

The world is still battling the outbreak of SARS COVI-2 and with time embracing the ‘new normal’ alongside. India is gradually approaching to resuming domestic travel through both air and rail.

A few days back the Civil Aviation’s announcement of suspending all domestic and international flights made the Aviation industry and people sigh. But a recent announcement made by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri gave the much-awaited good news.

In a tweet, the minister announced that all domestic air carriers be ready to take the skies as the domestic civil aviation will recommence in a ‘calibrated manner’ starting Monday, 25th May 2020.

However, international scheduled flights remain suspended as of the previous schedule, and the domestic resumption will be carried under strict social distancing norms enacted by the government.

Budge domestic career Air Asia has announced it is taking bookings for essential travel, already.

Ajay Sing, CMD of SpiceJet told the lift on restriction will go a long way in lifting the “overall economic sentiment of the country.”

Airlines are bracing to take to the Indian skies with the highest safety standards in accordance with the government regulations, in place.

Government-mandated DOs and Don’ts for domestic travel by air

With the order to resume flights from May 25th, strict social distancing rules have been laid for essential travelers by the Government of India. They are:

Railways

The Ministry of Railways has announced that train service will be restored in a graded manner including special trains like Sampark Kranti and Shatabdi.

The resumption comes with strict social distancing protocols in place and no unreserved compartment in the initially 200 trans that will commence from June 1st.

Here’s a list of the 200 trains that will get into operation from next months.

These official guidelines are for trains other than the currently operational sramik trains are as followed:

  • No unreserved compartment, hence reserved ticket is a must
  • Bookings will start from today, 10 AM
  • No tickets will be available in stations
  • Bookings strictly by IRCTC through a mobile app
  • ARP or advanced reservation period is 30 days
  • Confirmed ticket holders will be allowed to enter stations
  • Screening will be done prior to boarding
  • Only asymptomatic people will be allowed to board the train
  • Special patient and ‘Divyangjan’ concession will be allowed
  • On arrival, destination state protocols must be adhered to
  • Railways will not provide any fabrics n the journey

The national transporter also said that RAC and waiting lists will be generated, but only confirmed ticket holders will board the trains.
