India coronavirus: another 86,052 new infections took the national total to touch 5.82 million cases on Friday as the nation saunters ahead to become the first country in the world to record 6 million cases after the US.

In the last 24-hours, the 86k plus new infections come after over 90k new cases recorded daily for the most of September and August putting India as the world’s second-most affected nation from COVID-19.

As per the updated health ministry data, 1,141 deaths were recorded in the last 24-hours, taking the total fatality numbers to 92,290.

New cases have sprouted in states like Kerala, Maharashtra, Orissa, Karnataka, and other states in lower numbers, federal health ministry data showed.

Globally India ranks second in terms of most cases in the world and stands just behind the US which has the highest number of all nations at 7 million as of Thursday.
