India on Thursday reported a record jump in the number of daily COVID-19 cases with more than 75k cases taking the national total to 3.31 million, federal health ministry data showed.
Coronavirus cases in India are on a steady rise and are by far Asia’s worst-hit country. India’s COVID-19 caseload is the third-most in the world, after the US and Brazil.
According to Reuters, India’s daily record on Thursday is the world’s highest after August 7th. In the same time-frame more 1,023 fatalities took the national total to 60,472.
The number of cases in India rose in thousands in the state of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Telengana, and in few hundreds in states like Chattisgarh, Delhi, Punjab, and other states, Ministry of Health data shows.
However, the government of India also said, the positivity rate of the virus in the nation has been progressively falling and that testing in huge numbers have shown a positive effect, TOI reported.
AIIMS Delhi doctors said the novel coronavirus not only affects the lungs of an infected individual but almost every other organ in the body. They also said the initial symptoms may be totally unrelated to the chest issues.
