Federal Health Ministry data on Monday reflected a coronavirus death toll of 50,000 as national total caseload surpassed 2.65 million-mark on the same day.

On Monday, more 57,981 infections were recorded in the country taking the national total more toward three million. For days in a row, India’s total COVID-19 cases have been increasing by more than 50k per day, one of the highest COVID-19 growth rates in the world.

However, amid the grim reflection of new infections and fatalities, more than 19,19,842 people successfully fought off the virus that has infected more than 20 million globally. India’s recovery rate is at a fair 72.51%, Health Ministry data showed.

Ever since India started with aggressive testing, the number of cases has dramatically increased. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research data, the number of tests done for COVID-19 surpassed the 3 crore mark by August 16th.  7,31,697 samples were tested on Sunday alone.
