Kolkata, India: The image of a Chinese family, joyfully preparing for a meal on a sunny day has bagged a major food photography award.
Li Huaifeng was chosen Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2021 for a picture titled Taste, which was captured in Licheng, Shanxi.
Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year debuted in 2011, which is open to both professionals and amateurs, young and old, recognize the best of food photography and film from around the world.
“This picture is technically outstanding in its use of light and composition, but what raises it to the level of historic importance is the depth of its storytelling and emotion.
“It tells of a year of isolation and living indoors, living in tiny communities of the immediate family,” said Director and Founder of Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year, Caroline Kenyon.
The scene is bathed in love here, Caroline said, adding that with echoes of the Madonna and Child, this excellent shot exemplifies how photography does not need to shock or annoy in order to be fantastic or memorable. This beautiful picture stays with the viewer.
In its tenth year, the competition sifted through nearly 10,500 entries from more than 70 countries around the world, with the winners revealed online via a Livestream event.
