Beyonce turned 39 today, and here we’re yet again amazed at her selfless gesture. Last Wednesday queen Bey had donated one million dollars to uplift black-owned small businesses that have been hit hard by the ongoing pandemic.

Beyonce and her foundation teamed up with NAACP during JULY and organized their first donation campaign where winner hailed from Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, and New York.

BeyGOOD Foundation announced on its official website on 2nd July that Beyonce is donating her second round of a million dollars to help the small business.

“Proud to announce $1M in additional funds from Beyoncé to help Black-owned small businesses. Round two of funding opens this month, with our partner NAACP,” BeyGOOD’s Instagram post read.

The foundation aims “to help strengthen small businesses and ensure economic empowerment for Black businesses.” You can know more about the procedure and formalities of donation on the official NAACP website.

With the wrath of the COVID pandemic spreading even now, several small and big businesses are suffering the consequences. With this in the backdrop, the foundation shortlisted 20 black-owned businesses that were in need of financial help.

Each was given a sum of 10,000 dollars. The Black-Owned Small Business Impact Fund is all set to receive fresh applications for the second round of help being offered by Bey.

It is worth mentioning that Beyonce’s generous gesture may have everything to do with the upheavals regarding ‘Black Lives Matter’.

She was quite vocal after the heart-breaking death of George Floyd by the Minneapolis police which kick-started the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement.

“We all witnessed his murder in broad daylight. We’re broken and we’re disgusted. We cannot normalize this behavior. No more senseless killings of human beings, no more seeing people of color as less than human. We can no longer look away.”voiced out Beyonce.

Beyonce has been equally sensitive towards the issue of the crashing economy initiated by the pandemic. She placed her opinions in April on a virtual concert titled One World: Together at Home, regarding the need to uplift struggling businesses.

“We all witnessed his murder in broad daylight. We’re broken and we’re disgusted,” the 24-times Grammy winner said, Billboard reports. “No more senseless killings of human beings, no more seeing people of color as less than human. We can no longer look away.”

The donation announced recently reflects Beyonce’s concern over the black community from every aspect. Stars like Beyonce holds the immense capacity to bring many positive changes in society on account of their global outreach and millions of fans.

Gestures like these are really appreciated in moments of crisis. Beyonce has successfully set a precedent for many people to follow. We wish Beyonce a very happy birthday and many more successful years to come.
